Hatfield College AFC provides a welcoming environment for all wishing to participate in football within college life. There are teams for all abilities catering to those with high levels of experience and also providing an environment for those who wish to play socially in the form of the lower teams. Each team within HCAFC plays within a league of the Durham College Sport league (with the premiership being won by HCAFC A in 2023). The A team also contests the Flootlit cup.

There are routine socials allowing both freshers and returners to fraternize within college and create long-lasting friendships.
